Sunday, February 2 saw the final day of the FIA European Rally Championship event Rally Liepāja. The sensational battle for victory on round two of the FIA European Rally Championship has taken another twist after Esapekka Lappi retook the lead from Vasily Gryazin on Rally Liepāja.
The first six special stages of the second round of FIA European Rally Championship – Rally Liepāja took place on Saturday, February 1. Towards the end of the day competitor of Škoda Motorsport team, Finn Esapekka Lappi (Škoda Fabia S2000) moved forward to leading position over the closest rival Vasily Gryazin (Ford Fiesta S2000)by as little as 2,6 seconds. Third position is currently taken by Craig Breen of Peugeot Rally Academy falling behind the leader by 59,2 seconds.

Latvia will host the FIA European Rally Championship event for the next three years – this is envisaged by the agreement between the organizer of the Championship - Eurosport Events - and the rally organizer RA EVENTS. In the FIA European Rally Championship calendar of the season 2014 for Latvia the second round – Rally Liepāja - is envisaged to be held from 31st January till 2nd February in the Liepāja and Kuldīga neighborhood.
