Liepāja Winter Festival

Christmas and New Year’s Eve is the time of wonders, surprises and memorable experiences. All this is offered by the Liepāja Winter Festival: 01.12.2013 – 02.02.2014.

At this time of year Liepāja is one of the most beautifully decorated Latvian cities. To see it and treat both yourself and your loved ones, we invite you to enjoy a wide variety of cultural, sporting and entertainment events as well as the specially prepared tourism offers and discount promotions.

On December 1 we shall light up the most gorgeous Christmas tree in Latvia, while the discounts and special offers in Liepāja will last until the beginning of February, when motors shall roar in Liepāja during the European Rally Championship event Rally Liepāja.

Come to enjoy the scent of gingerbread and mulled wine, see the largest Latvian Advent wreath at the city’s heart. Make a wish and go straight across the romantic bridge, under which overwinters Rožu square’s finest decoration – roses! Kids will love the Gingerbread Town with houses and slides built right next to the Rožu square. Light projections in various parts of the city and the Christmas tree made from small silver firs will be worth of admiration. If you raise your eyes higher, you shall notice the whitest snow laces on the city’s main street, while on the Karosta Bridge you will be kindly greeted by the city’s guardian angels, which have already become a Christmas symbol in the city of winds. And this is not all... Guided tour can help one to see all the interesting decorations in Liepāja and learn a lot about the city. When you had enough of walking, take a special ride on a tram beautifully decorated with lights. After a wintery walk we recommend to warm up with some hot beverage at one of the city’s hospitable restaurants or cafes and enjoy a relaxing stay in the city’s hotels.

 Active recreation enthusiasts will not be disappointed, because there are still such events ahead as the smelt fishing season, winter ice-skating, skiing, wakeboarding and ice boarding. And by taking along one’s swimwear the beach warmth in Liepāja can be enjoyed throughout the year.
