During the period from January 31 to February 2 2014 the second round of the FIA European Rally Championship Rally Liepāja will take place in Liepāja and its surroundings. In order for the inhabitants of Liepāja and city guests to have an opportunity to have an interesting stay in Liepāja, on Saturday, February 1, a Fish Day event will take place on city promenade.

The event is to be held from 11:00 till 17:00 and during it everyone will be able to enjoy for free a salmon soup prepared by chefs from the Liepāja State Technical School, watch the decorated Naval Forces flotilla ships at the Liepāja Promenade and climb on board. If the weather is suitable and the Trade Channel not frozen, “Četri vēji” shall offer a small boat excursion.
Each “Fish Day’s” visitor will be able to purchase both fish and smoked meat products as well as mixes of nuts and seeds and other treats.
The event organizers have also thought about a rich cultural program – the children’s vocal studio’s “PĒRLĪTES” soloists shall give a musical performance, the Liepāja travelling puppet theatre “Maska” shall offer to play and go look for adventures, Šostiks-Bostiks along with various fairy-tale characters shall invite to explore the essence of the Winter Rally.
The BMX cyclists with their prepared demonstrations and gymnasts from the Liepāja Youth House are going to take care of surprises. Guests shall also be entertained by folk dance collectives: PECC “Liepājas Valsts tehnikums” youth dance collective “ODZIŅA”, Liepāja Folk Art and Culture Centre folk dance ensemble “RUCAVIETIS” and the middle generation dance collective “KVĒLE”.
The event shall be concluded by the Liepāja circus studio “BEZTEMATA” with a variety of circus performances and a small fire show.
In order for the city guests to have broader opportunities in learning about other events in the city as well as go on tours devised specifically for tourists, the Liepāja Region Tourism Information Office during the period from January 31 to February 2 will have different work hours:
On January 31 from 09:00 till 19:00;
On February 1 from 08:00 till 19:00;
On February 2 from 07:00 till 12:00.
Night club “Fontaine Palace” has prepared a special offer for February 1 – by presenting one’s rally spectator’s ticket, a person will be able to gain entrance into the club for free. In turn, at the cocktail bar “Red Sun Buffet”, located on Pasta iela 2, from January 29 to February 2 by showing one’s “Rally Liepāja” entrance ticket a person from 23:00 till 00:30 will get a 50% discount on special cocktails.
On February 1 at the Promenade Hotel’s Hick Hall the concert “Music Pearls for Violin” from the concert cycle “Kindle the Light” will take place. Participants – Ilze Zariņa (violin), Līna Andrejeva (piano). Repertoire: Ludwig van Beethoven, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Ernest Chausson, Pablo de Sarasate, Aram Khachaturian, Sergei Prokofiev. Tickets can be bought in advance at www.bilesuparadize.lv and at the concert venue.
All winter rally fans who would like to use the opportunity to get to the Vecpils speed stage for free, on Sunday, February 2, will have to gather near the “Līva” hotel. In total two buses shall head over to the speed stages and take the fans both to Vecpils and back to Liepāja – one bus shall be going back to Liepāja after the first speed stage, while the other one – after the second speed stage. The first speed stage starts at 11:00 and the second one at 15:00.
