The Frenchman Bryan Bouffier must have been probably the most popular of the participants taking part on Rally Liepāja, round two of the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC). He came to Liepāja nearly having just stepped off the WRC podium – he ranked second in the opening round of the World Rally Championship, giving in only to the world champion Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen).

Esapekka Lappi came, saw and conquered Rally Liepāja at the previous weekend. And this is how Škoda Motorsport’s latest flying Finn took top spot with co-driver Janne Ferm on round two of the FIA European Rally Championship.

Vasily Gryazin’s stunning second place finish on Rally Liepāja, round two of the FIA European Rally Championship, has earned the young Russian the prestigious Colin McRae ERC Flat Out Trophy.

Sunday, February 2 saw the final day of the FIA European Rally Championship event Rally Liepāja. The rally was won by Škoda Motorsport crew Esapekka Lappi/ Janne Ferm (Škoda Fabia S2000), who gained lead over the second placed Vasily Gryazin/ Dmitry Chumak only during the second part of the day. Third place finish to Peugeot Rally Academy crew Craig Breen/ Scott Martin.


Craig Breen continues to hold third place on Rally Liepāja – by going slowly. The Irishman thought he’d punctured a tyre after clipping an object nearing the finish of the rerun of and dropped his pace as a result.


The sensational battle for victory on round two of the FIA European Rally Championship has taken another twist after Esapekka Lappi retook the lead from Vasily Gryazin on Rally Liepāja.


The first six special stages of the second round of FIA European Rally Championship – Rally Liepāja took place on Saturday, February 1. Towards the end of the day competitor of Škoda Motorsport team, Finn Esapekka Lappi (Škoda Fabia S2000) moved forward to leading position over the closest rival Vasily Gryazin (Ford Fiesta S2000)by as little as 2,6 seconds. Third position is currently taken by Craig Breen of Peugeot Rally Academy falling behind the leader by 59,2 seconds.


Craig Breen says his confidence is slowly being restored following the second run through the Sporta bārs Optibet stage on round two of the FIA European Rally Championship.


Vasily Gryazin is the new leader of round two of the FIA European Rally Championship following Bryan Bouffier’s exit from Rally Liepāja.


Today a 4.19 km long qualification stage for the priority competitors opened the second round of FIAEuropean Rally Championship Rally Liepāja. In the press conference following later, first starting position was chosen by French crew Robert Consani/ Vincent Landais (Peugeot 207 S2000), who finished today as the 13th. Winners of the qualification phase, German racers Sepp Wiegand/Frank Christian (Škoda Fabia S2000) will start the competition at position number seven.


Saturday, February 1, 10:30 will give a start of the first game of ice hockey tournamet Optibet Winter Cup. The tournament will be held on an ice-covered next to the first viewpoint of the SS1/4 Sporta bārs OPTIBET. There will be six teams competing for the victory, one of which will see rally drivers Rihards Rāviņš, Mārtiņš Kalniņš and Raivis Ozoliņš as players.

FIA European Rally Championship runner-up and Rallye Monte-Carlo 2nd place finisher Bryan Bouffier will return to the ERC in Latvia later this month in a PH Sport Citroën DS3 RRC. He spoke to about the challenge ahead.

TV6 will telecast reviews of all the events of the 2014 FIA European Rally Championship. The agreement between RA EVENTS, SIA and MTG TV Latvia, SIA declares that channel TV6 will telecast reviews prepared by Eurosport, and that for each event there will be one 52min long broadcast. However, Latvian round of the championship Rally Liepāja will see extra coverage, as reviews from Day 1 and Day 2 of the rally will also be re-aired.

Organisers of the round 2 of the 2014 FIA European Rally Championship is looking for the companies willing to take part in the hosting of Rally Liepāja and provide catering services. The catering services are required during the days of competition January 31 – February 2 and will be located in spectators’ viewpoints and service parks in Liepaja and Kuldiga neighbourhoods.


Surface specialists will be recognised in the 2014 FIA European Rally Championship through three exciting new accolades, subject to approval by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). ERC promoter Eurosport Events revealed the creation of the ERC Asphalt, Gravel and Ice Masters. They will be handed out in honour of the drivers who perform best on those surfaces during the upcoming 2014 ERC season.

Also this time the price of the entrance ticket, offered in advance sale till December 31, is EUR 14.23, and it will cover attendance of all Rally Liepāja stages.


Eurosport Events, the promoter of the FIA European Rally Championship, is delighted to announce several exciting developments for the 2014 season, which were approved by a meeting of the FIA Rally Commission in Geneva last month (31 October). All these proposals are subject to approval by the World Motor Sport Council at its meeting in December.

There will be serious competition ahead – and seriously good events – in next year’s FIA European Rally Championship with the publication of the draft list of dates for 2014.  Following a meeting of the FIA Rally Commission in Geneva last month, Eurosport Events, the ERC promoter, is delighted to reveal a 12-round schedule, which is due for final ratification by the FIA World Motor Sport Council at its meeting in Paris in December.


This autumn came with impressive news for the Baltic motorsports region — first of all it was announced that Lithuania was included in the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar and the second news was that the organizers of the European Rally Championship (ERC) have decided to conclude a three-year co-operation agreement with Latvia.


Two of rallying’s most promising young talents, russian Vasily Gryazin, who mastered his driving skills in Latvia and is driving with Latvian license, and french rising star Stéphane Lefebvre, have announced plans to contest next year’s FIA European Rally Championship.

As kitchen utensils are not complete strangers to the racing driver, it was not long when the brillinat looking and tasteful meal - Minced veal stew with autumn vegetables was ready to be served. This time, the course is to provide extra strength and endurance, much needed to cope with the autumn weather of Latvia.

The inhabitants of Latvia will be able to see the reviews prepared by the channel Eurosport recorded in Latvian by the organizer of Rally Liepāja Raimonds Strokšs and the TV6 personality and StarFM voice Normunds Avotiņš.


Welcome to Rally Liepāja 2014


Latvia will host the FIA European Rally Championship event for the next three years – this is envisaged by the agreement between the organizer of the Championship - Eurosport Events - and the rally organizer RA EVENTS. In the FIA European Rally Championship calendar of the season 2014 for Latvia the second round – Rally Liepāja - is envisaged to be held from 31st January till 2nd February in the Liepāja and Kuldīga neighborhood.
